MAREP is involved in a number of on-going and new initiatives that have made significant advances in translating research into practical tools to ensure research gets to those who can use it the most.
MAREP Dementia Education Series
Over the past several years and in partnership with Oakwood Retirement Communities, MAREP has developed a multi-level dementia education series. The education series is designed to be interactive and flexible so as to meet the diverse needs of adult learners from a range of backgrounds and settings. On a cost-recovery basis, MAREP is able to offer education in a variety of settings including community health care and social support agencies, long-term care homes, retirement homes, and supportive housing environments. Sessions offered in each Level of the Series are normally offered over several weeks in five or six, two-hour classes. In some cases, individual sessions can be offered as "stand-alone" tailored workshops. The topics covered in each level of the Dementia Education Series are listed below.
